Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is recruiting for a Maintenance Craftsman (Joiner) based at University Hospital Ayr. The role involves delivering building services within a hospital setting and across community premises, reporting to the Building Supervisor.

You will require a City & Guilds apprenticeship and must be able to participate in an on-call rota, with some travel to other Ayrshire hospitals. A UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of undertaking building maintenance work within a hospital environment would be an advantage.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rota and be willing to work at other hospitals within Ayrshire to meet service demands.

Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Craftsman (Joiner) within our Estates Department based at University Hospital Ayr.

Hours And Shift Pattern

36 per week (8.00am to 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 1.00pm Friday) With the requirement to participate in an on-call rota

This post is offered on a permanent basis

UK Driving Licence

A UK car licence is essential to this role.

What You Will Do

Following completion of a recognised apprenticeship and having gained extensive experience in this field, you will be part of a team reporting directly to the Building Supervisor, responsible for the delivery of building services within a hospital environment and across community premises. You should be able to demonstrate versatility and experience on a range of complex building maintenance work task schedules in addition to being an effective communicator.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job

A City & Guilds apprenticeship in an appropriate building trade related discipline is essential. Previous experience of undertaking building maintenance work within a hospital environment would be an advantage.

You will also be required to take part in an on call rota and be able to work at other hospitals within Ayrshire to meet the demands of the service. Due to the requirement to participate in an on call rota it is desirable that the successful applicant should live no more than 30 minutes travelling time from the hospital.
