EPIC Recruitment has partnered with this pioneering, family-owned civil group seeking a proven, self-motivated heavy diesel mechanic to serve as Maintenance Coordinator/Supervisor for their South Island team. Based in Christchurch, reporting to the Branch Manager and Operations Leadership, you will oversee daily planned and reactive maintenance of plant and equipment across multiple sites, diagnosing and repairing efficiently to minimize downtime. You will organize outsourcing for large-scale work, develop in-house maintenance systems, and ensure effective communication within the team. Your leadership will be forward-thinking and solutions-focused, fostering a collaborative environment where respect and understanding are paramount.

You will have:

• Proven experience in NZ Heavy Diesel market (Heavy Transport and Equipment), ideally as a leading hand or workshop manager, with hands-on skills.
• Experience in civil construction industry is beneficial; understanding operator-maintenance-supplier relationships is essential.
• Strong communication skills with an approachable leadership style.
• Proficiency in creating and interpreting service/warranty documentation, and generating reports for maintenance schedules.
• Willingness to be based in Christchurch and travel regionally.
• A passion for the industry and alignment with the company's core values.
