Job summary

Beaumont Care Homes Limited is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for 30 hours per week in Northern Ireland. You will support the Home Manager by maintaining the care home and grounds, ensuring safe operation of heating, lighting, plumbing and non-medical equipment.

The role suits someone with maintenance or trades experience who can decorate, perform basic repairs, and participate in on-call cover. You will contribute to safe, comfortable living for residents.

• Background in maintenance, painting and decorating or general trades experience.
• Enthusiasm to support residents and maintain health and safety standards.
• Ability to work as part of a team and willing to join an on-call rota.

Responsibilities

• Upkeep of the Care Home and surrounding grounds; maintain first impressions for visitors.
• Ensure safe operation of heating, lighting, plumbing and non-medical equipment.
• Maintain exterior areas including pathways, driveways, flowerbeds and lighting.
• Identify and report maintenance defects; engage with stakeholders to complete tasks.
• Undertake decorating, painting, wallpapering and minor refurbishment.
• Provide out of hours emergency support as part of the on-call rota.
• Active Fire Warden duties and required training; induct new staff as needed.
• Assemble/install new equipment deliveries; carry out basic safety checks on the vehicle.
• Support independence and well-being of residents; work unsupervised when appropriate.

Ideally with a background in maintenance, or painting and decorating or general trades experience along with the enthusiasm required to support our residents. As part of the Maintenance team you will positively promote excellent health and safety standards within and around the home to maintain a safe environment.

About the role

Responsibilities:

• Responsible to the Home Manager for the upkeep of the Care Home and surrounding grounds, undertake planned maintenance of the home ensuring excellent first Impressions to all who visit
• Ensuring the smooth operation and serviceability of all services such as heating, lighting, plumbing and non-medical equipment required for the safe and efficient operation of the Home.
• Maintaining the homes exterior including :
• Pathways and driveways are clear unobstructed and safe. Flowerbeds and potted plants are tended and grassed areas kept tidy to enhance 1st impressions. Ensure that external lighting and signs inside and outside the home are clear visible and in good order / repair.
• Ensuring compliance and essential checks are completed and identifying and reporting all maintenance defects. Engaging proactively with all stakeholders ensuring all allocated tasks outside and inside the site are carried out effectively and efficiently and to a high standard
• Able to undertake decorating, including painting & wallpapering, minor refurbishment and maintenance within the home
• Able to provide out of hours emergency service by participating in the on call rota and be proactive when asked to provide temporary cover for sister homes.
• Suitably trained to be an active Fire Warden and to keep up to date within policy and procedures including all training as required. Induct new staff as required.. Able to assemble / install new equipment / goods delivered to a home.
• Assisting with the fire and water risk assessments and reviews. Carrying out plumbing, joinery and general building repairs to a good standard.
• Maintaining the company vehicle and carrying out basic safety checks. To succeed you will be
