Job summary

THE NICI Bournemouth is seeking a proactive Maintenance Assistant to join the Engineering team. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the hotel, ensuring facilities meet the highest standards while creating a safe, comfortable environment for guests and colleagues.

You will support the Maintenance Manager on projects and inspections, respond to requests, and work with external contractors when needed. A positive, flexible attitude and strong practical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities, or engineering in hospitality.
• Strong practical skills across maintenance disciplines.
• Proactive problem-solving abilities.
• Organised with attention to detail.
• Team player with ability to work independently.
• Flexible to shifts including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive and reactive maintenance across the hotel.
• Respond to maintenance requests from all departments.
• Complete general repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, decorating, and painting tasks.
• Assist in maintaining guest bedrooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and external grounds to the highest standards.
• Support the Maintenance Manager with ongoing projects and routine inspections.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
• Work alongside external contractors when required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and hotel policies.
• Identify potential maintenance issues and proactively recommend solutions.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and reliable Maintenance Assistant to join the Engineering team at THE NICI Bournemouth.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the hotel, ensuring our facilities are maintained to the highest standards. You will play an important role in creating a safe, comfortable, and well-presented environment for our guests and colleagues while supporting the day-to-day operation of the hotel's engineering function.

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A positive attitude with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
