Job summary

The Ullswater Inn is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to ensure facilities are safe, comfortable, and in excellent condition. You will perform daily checks on boilers, electrical systems, and fire safety equipment, and address hazards in outdoor areas.

Ideal candidates have basic plumbing/electrical skills and a proactive, can-do attitude to tackle varied tasks with care and precision on site at Ullswater Inn in the Lake District.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience or background in facilities upkeep.
• Ability to perform daily checks on building systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily boiler, electrical, and fire-safety checks.
• Inspect and replace light bulbs; secure fire doors.
• Inspect roofs, gutters, and walkways for hazards; maintain outdoor areas.
• Handle planned maintenance like painting and grouting; assist with repairs.
• Basic plumbing/electrical/joinery tasks; comply with ladder checks and fire alarm tests.

You’ll Fit Right Inn

As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our facilities are safe, comfortable, and in excellent condition. Your responsibilities include daily checks on boilers, electrical systems, and fire safety equipment, along with inspecting and replacing light bulbs and securing fire doors. You’ll conduct regular inspections of roofs, gutters, and walkways to address hazards and maintain outdoor areas, including gardening and external housekeeping.

You’ll handle planned maintenance tasks like painting and grouting, as well as unplanned repairs. Basic plumbing, electrical, and joinery skills are essential, along with a focus on compliance through ladder checks, fire alarm tests, and utility readings. A proactive, can-do attitude will help you confidently tackle varied tasks with care and precision.
