Job summary

Harpenden Springs is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep the home and grounds in top condition. The role focuses on routine upkeep, safety checks, and proactive care to support residents in a luxury care setting.

You will perform general maintenance tasks, monitor equipment, and assist with contractor visits, while adhering to health and safety policies. The position is full-time, dayshift, with 40 hours weekly and a pay rate of £13.20 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, caretaking or facilities.
• Practical maintenance skills across a range of tasks.
• Understanding Health and Safety requirements in a workplace.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and care for older people.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and decorating throughout the home.
• Complete regular checks in line with Health and Safety policies.
• Monitor and maintain equipment, fixtures and fittings.
• Keep gardens and outdoor areas safe and well-preserved.
• Assist with planned maintenance programmes and contractor visits.
• Perform basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and general maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and safety records.

What you need to succeed:

Previous experience in a similar maintenance, caretaking or facilities role.

• Possess good practical skills across a range of maintenance duties.
• Understand Health and Safety requirements within a workplace setting.
• Is proactive, organised and able to work independently as well as being a team player.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoys working with older people.
• Takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
