Job summary
Oakland Care Ltd is hiring a Maintenance Assistant for our Harpenden home. You will be responsible for daily upkeep of the building and grounds, ensuring high health and safety standards and keeping residents' environment welcoming and well-maintained.
With 40 hours per week and a competitive hourly rate, you’ll perform maintenance tasks, assist with contractor visits, and contribute to a proactive upkeep program in a luxury care setting.
Qualifications
- Experience in maintenance, caretaking or facilities roles.
- Good practical maintenance skills across trades.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
- Autonomy, organisation and teamwork ability.
- Excellent communication with residents.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and decorating throughout the home.
- Complete regular checks in line with Health and Safety policies.
- Monitor and maintain equipment, fixtures and fittings.
- Keep gardens and outdoor areas safe and well-preserved.
- Assist with planned maintenance programmes and contractor visits.
- Perform basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and general maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and safety records.

Are you a maintenance whiz with an eye for detail and a passion for keeping things running smoothly? We're looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team! From day-to-day upkeep of the building and grounds to ensuring top-notch health and safety standards, your role will be vital in maintaining our luxury property. What will you be doing:
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and decorating throughout the home.
- Complete regular checks in line with Oakland Care's Health and Safety, Emergency and Fire policies and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain equipment, fixtures and fittings.
- Make sure gardens, grounds and outdoor areas are safe and well-preserved.
- Assist with planned maintenance programmes and contractor visits.
- Perform basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and general maintenance tasks.
- Support with keeping accurate maintenance and safety records.
What you need to succeed:Previous experience in a similar maintenance, caretaking or facilities role.
- Possess good practical skills across a range of maintenance duties.
- Understand Health and Safety requirements within a workplace setting.
- Is proactive, organised and able to work independently as well as being a team player.
- Excellent communication skills and enjoys working with older people.
- Takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
