Job summary

The Inn Collection Group’s Kingslodge Inn in Durham is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep the pub-hotel safe, comfortable and well-presented. You’ll perform daily checks on essential systems and address both planned and unforeseen maintenance tasks, ensuring high standards across the property.

Daily duties include inspecting boilers, electrical systems, lighting and fire safety equipment, plus roofing, gutters and outdoor areas.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance and facilities management.
• Basic plumbing, electrical, and joinery skills required.
• Experience with safety compliance and risk assessments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Daily checks on boilers, electrical systems and fire safety equipment.
• Inspect and replace light bulbs and secure fire doors.
• Inspect roofs, gutters and walkways to address hazards and maintain outdoor areas.
• Handle planned maintenance tasks like painting and grouting; and unplanned repairs.
• Focus on ladder checks, fire alarm tests and utility readings to ensure compliance.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our facilities are safe, comfortable, and in excellent condition. Your responsibilities include daily checks on boilers, electrical systems, and fire safety equipment, along with inspecting and replacing light bulbs and securing fire doors. You’ll conduct regular inspections of roofs, gutters, and walkways to address hazards and maintain outdoor areas, including gardening and external housekeeping.

You’ll handle planned maintenance tasks like painting and grouting, as well as unplanned repairs. Basic plumbing, electrical, and joinery skills are essential, along with a focus on compliance through ladder checks, fire alarm tests, and utility readings. A proactive, can-do attitude will help you confidently tackle varied tasks with care and precision.
