Job summary

Aspris Sedgemoor Manor School is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join the maintenance team. You will perform reactive day-to-day maintenance on-site and grounds, and assist in supporting other homes within the community.

You will liaise with contractors on site and handle ad-hoc requests from management as necessary. The role operates five days a week with potential to spread hours across the weekend; attention to safety and COSHH is essential, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance position.
• Knowledge of COSHH and health and safety in the workplace, training provided.
• Organised, adaptable and thorough in approach to work.

Job description

Sedgemoor Manor School are recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant to join their maintenance team. We are looking for a passionate handyperson and an enthusiastic DIYer, who will carry out reactive day-to-day maintenance issues within the site and their grounds. You will also assist in supporting our other homes in the community, liaising with contractors when on site and ad-hoc requests from management as and when necessary.

This role is for five working days - these hours could be completed across the weekend if desired.

Sedgemoor Manor is a specialist day school for young people who have needs associated with a diagnosis on the autistic spectrum/SPLD and are aged between 7 and 19 years. Our tailored approach means we can support young people with a wide range of learning difficulties. The following skills would be of benefit to the role:

• Previous experience in a maintenance position
• A good knowledge of COSHH and health and safety in the workplace, however training will be provided
• You will be organised, adaptable and thorough in your approach to work

Ideally, you will have experience in some of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plastering (qualifications are not essential).
