Job summary

Oakland Care's Osbern Manor in Wigmore, Gillingham is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep the building and grounds in top condition, ensuring safety and smooth daily operations.

You will carry out routine maintenance, respond to repairs, monitor equipment, and support planned works; must be hands-on, reliable, and able to work days Monday–Friday with on-call duties every other weekend. Join a friendly team delivering compassionate care to residents.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance, caretaking or facilities role.
• Proactive, organised and able to work independently as well as being a team player.
• Understand Health and Safety requirements within a workplace setting.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoys working with older people.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and decorating throughout the home.
• Complete regular checks in line with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor and maintain equipment, fixtures and fittings.
• Make sure gardens, grounds and outdoor areas are safe and well-preserved.
• Assist with planned maintenance programmes and contractor visits.
• Perform basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and general maintenance tasks.
• Support with keeping accurate maintenance and safety records.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Pay: £14.00 per hour

Contract: Permanent

Shift: Days (Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm and on call duties every other weekend)

• Is proactive, organised and able to work independently as well as being a team player.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoys working with older people.
• Takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
