Job summary

Oakminster Healthcare Group in Glasgow is seeking a motivated Trainee Maintenance Officer to support day-to-day building and grounds upkeep at our care home, maintaining safety and high standards.

You will assist with basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical tasks under supervision, learn safety procedures, and help maintain records, tools and job sheets while coordinating with staff and contractors.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving License is required.
• Experience in general maintenance/DIY and minor repair work.

Responsibilities

• Support experienced maintenance staff with day-to-day repairs and upkeep.
• Help in carrying out basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, or electrical tasks under supervision.
• Follow standard operating procedures for routine maintenance work.
• Learn how to use tools, equipment, and materials safely and effectively
• Help address immediate repair needs as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in maintenance workshops and work areas.
• Ensure tools and equipment are stored correctly after use.
• Always follow health and safety regulations and report any hazards.
• Wear appropriate PPE and adhere to site safety standards.
• Assist with maintaining records of maintenance work.
• Help complete job sheets, checklists, and inspection logs.
• Work closely with other team members and contractors.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and report any issues or delays.
• Participate in on-the-job training and relevant courses.
• Take initiative to learn and improve technical knowledge and skills
• Interact politely and professionally with residents, staff, or clients during maintenance work.
