Job summary

HSBC Group in the UK seeks an experienced Technical Services Manager to modernise the mainframe developer experience and SDLC across the UK, USA and Mexico. You will lead a hands-on engineering team, promote a GitHub-centred model, standardise tooling and golden paths, and drive automation and responsible AI-assisted engineering while delivering end-to-end developer tooling capabilities.

You will collaborate with Product Owners and Delivery Managers to standardise practices, mentor 5–8

Qualifications

• Hands-on mainframe engineering with delivery-focused background.
• Experience moving teams to GitHub-based engineering and PR governance.
• Proven line management experience (5–8 engineers).

Responsibilities

• Lead features from design to release and ensure readiness across regions.
• Define and deliver a measurable DevEx roadmap for faster onboarding and fewer manual steps.
• Build and maintain standard templates and practices adopted across regions (repo standards, branching, patterns).
• Shift mainframe SCM to a GitHub-centred model with automated checks and auditable release patterns.
• Own end-to-end delivery of developer tooling capabilities and production-grade APIs.
