Job summary

A leading outdoor retail company in the United Kingdom is looking for a skilled Magento Frontend Developer. You will create bespoke solutions for eCommerce websites and work closely with an experienced team to enhance user experiences. The ideal candidate should have a strong frontend development background, preferably with Magento. This full-time role offers 30 days holiday, corporate discounts, and participation in an Employee Assistance Programme.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop custom frontend Magento modules and ensure seamless user experiences.
  • Collaborate on project scoping and estimation.
  • Peer-review code contributions to maintain quality standards.
  • Provide technical advice to the eCommerce team.

Skills

Proficiency in CSS preprocessors
Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
Focus on performance, security, and user experience
Strong communication skills in English

Job description

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (8.30am to 5.30pm)

Role Overview

We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Magento Frontend Developer to join our team of talented developers.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our experienced Magento team to create bespoke, high‑quality solutions for a portfolio of eCommerce websites. While past Magento experience is preferred, we’re open to candidates with a strong background in frontend development for PHP‑based frameworks. You’ll receive mentorship and guidance, but a passion for learning and self‑improvement is key to thriving in this role.

What does a typical day look like?
  • Develop custom frontend Magento modules and functionality, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Collaborate with the team on scoping and estimation sessions for new projects and features.
  • Peer‑review code contributions from other developers to maintain high‑quality standards.
  • Provide technical advice and support to the wider eCommerce team regarding Magento frontend development.
Essential skills
  • Proficiency in CSS preprocessors.
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • A keen focus on performance, security, and user experience in eCommerce.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Experience developing custom frontend solutions for Magento 2 (Commerce [Enterprise] edition is a bonus).
  • Familiarity with Magento’s frontend architecture.
  • Knowledge of PHP to collaborate effectively with backend developers.
  • Experience with debugging tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management processes.
  • Exposure to containerisation tools.
