Job summary
CarnaudMetalbox Engineering Limited in Shipley, West Yorkshire is seeking Machinists for our Machine Shop on a triple shift pattern. You will manufacture and inspect parts to drawings, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date. Reporting to the Machine Shop Team Leader, you will set and operate machine tools, replace cutting tools, and support apprentices. Experience with non-conformance investigations (5Y/8D) is valued. Knowledge of Mazak, Heidenhain or Fanuc controls is desirable.
Qualifications
Apprentice-trained engineer (NVQ3 or equivalent) preferred.
Mechanical and technical flexibility to work unsupervised.
Experience with Mazak/Heidenhain/Fanuc controls desirable.
Responsibilities
Manufacture and inspect parts to drawings with accurate documentation.
Audit areas to company standards; operate and set machinery safely.
Replace and monitor cutting tools; communicate across shifts.
Provide end-of-shift handovers; train apprentices and new staff.
Participate in non-conformance investigations (5Y/8D) and document data.
Operate machine tools to manufacture components meeting standards and ensure high machine efficiency.
Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing small batch complex components.
