Reporting to: Pattern & Sample Room Manager

Job Type: 12‑month Fixed Term Contract (full time)

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced machinist with a strong background in handling satin and woven fabrics. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating initial garment samples based on design specifications, translating design ideas into physical garments, and collaborating with designers and pattern cutters. They will operate industrial sewing machines to assemble garments or textile components with precision and efficiency. Familiarity with delicate and high‑end materials is essential to ensure the quality, finish, and durability of the products.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a sample machinist looking to develop their career further within a fast‑paced environment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Using industrial sewing machines and other equipment to sew garments together, paying close attention to detail and quality.
  • Sew, assemble, and finish garments made from satin and woven fabrics according to production specifications.
  • Work from technical packs, patterns, and instructions to produce high‑quality garments.
  • Ensure accuracy in stitching and garment construction, maintaining consistency in size and finish.
  • Handle delicate satin and woven materials with care to prevent damage such as snags, pulls, or misalignment.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed work and correct any defects or inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate closely with designers and production managers to meet production timelines.
  • Maintain machines and report any faults or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
Person Specification:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating industrial sewing machines in a fashion or textile manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in satin and woven fabrics, including stretch and non‑stretch variations.
  • Ability to work with fine materials, producing clean finishes and high‑end detailing.
