Job summary

Pentex Ltd is seeking a dedicated Garment Technologist-in-training in London to support the technical team with sampling, measurements and quality checks. You will learn garment construction, fit, grading and QA processes, while working closely with design, buying and merchandising teams.

The role emphasizes accuracy, organisation and proactive communication, with opportunities to develop into a Garment Technologist as you gain experience and technical knowledge.

Qualifications

• Qualification in fashion, textiles or garment technology.
• Experience in retail or manufacturing is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and data measurement.
• Strong organisation and deadline management.
• Good written and verbal communication with teams.

Responsibilities

• Assess incoming design samples against tech pack, specs and customer standards.
• Measure samples and record results on spec sheets and tracking systems.
• Support the technical team during busy sampling periods to maintain turnaround times.
• Check fabric, trims and make on samples and flag issues to the technical team.
• Keep the sample tracker updated, samples logged, labelled and stored correctly.
• Prepare sample comments and feedback to factories under guidance of garment technologists.
• Keep the tech room organised, including archives and equipment.
• Collaborate with design, buying and merchandising teams to support critical paths.
• Ensure machines have trims needed to start samples and be trained into Garment Technologist.

The Role

Would you like to join an innovative company where you’ll be responsible for supporting our Technical team in assessing, measuring and tracking samples, helping to maintain quality and accuracy throughout the sampling process, while building the skills and experience needed to develop into a Garment Technologist?

Main Responsibilities

• Assess all incoming design samples against the tech pack, specifications and customer standards
• Measure samples and accurately record results on spec sheets and tracking systems
• Provide extra support to the technical team during busy sampling periods to help keep turnaround times on track
• Check the quality of fabric, trims and make on samples, and flag any issues to the technical team
• Keep the sample tracker up to date, ensuring samples are logged, labelled and stored correctly
• Help prepare sample comments and feedback to factories, under the guidance of the garment technologists
• Keep the tech room organised, including sample archives, reference garments and equipment
• Work closely with the design, buying and merchandising teams to support the critical path
• Ensure machines have the trims needed to start samples that have been cut
• Be trained and developed into a Garment Technologist, building knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading and quality standards

Your Experience

• A completed qualification in a fashion, textiles or garment technology related subject
• Experience working in a retail or manufacturing environment is desirable though not essential
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to measuring and recording data
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple samples and deadlines at once
• Good written and verbal communication skills, to liaise effectively with the technical, design, buying and merchandising teams
• A genuine interest in garment construction, fit and quality, with a good eye for product
• Proactive, with the confidence to use initiative and flag issues early
• Comfortable working at pace in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment
• Familiarity with tech packs, spec sheets or PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems is advantageous though not essential
