Job summary

Randstad CPE in Wales is seeking a hands-on Machining Cell Leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy precision machining department.

You will work with Production, Planning and Purchasing to hit production targets and you may run the department in the manager's absence.

Responsibilities include creating and optimizing CNC programs for DMG Mori machines, setting up and operating lathes and mills, interpreting drawings and performing in-process inspections with precision instruments.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC machines in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Skilled in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in DMG Mori programming platforms (Celos, VPS) – preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and tooling.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software (Siemens NX, Mastercam).

Responsibilities

• Create and optimise CNC programs for DMG Mori machines using offline programming tools.
• Set up and operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, drills) according to job requirements.
• Load raw materials and verify tooling setup.
• Interpret technical drawings and ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
• Monitor machine performance and report issues promptly.
• Work closely with programmers and machining production manager to meet production schedules.
