Machine Tool Fitter

Become a member of the Machinery Build Team responsible for building sub-assembly units. This position involves integrating these units into the overall machine build of Friction Welding Machinery, including installation and upgrades at customer sites within the UK and worldwide.

This role is a vital part of our Operations team. We seek a focused, detail-oriented individual with high standards, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn.

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled team member to assemble machine units such as spindles, clamps, automation systems, lubrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other mechanical sub-assemblies. You will fit and assemble these units using drawings and schematics, collaborating with the Build Supervisor to ensure each machine is built on time, within budget, and to specifications.

Participate in Up Front Planning meetings before the build phase to review designs, voice concerns, and identify materials needed for the mechanical build sequence.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Assemble machines according to assembly prints
• Read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
• Bend/form hydraulic tubes and make hose assemblies
• Install pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Fabricate mounting brackets using welding skills
• Inspect parts using various inspection tools
• Build spindles and clamps
• Perform on-site installation, upgrades, and refurbishments
• Operate machine shop equipment such as Miller, Lather, Surface Grinder, etc.
• Integrate vendor automation, conveyors, robots, and guarding systems

Required Education and Experience

• City and Guilds or BTECH Mechanical Engineering qualification
• Experience as a Machine Tool Fitter
• Bespoke machine building experience is preferred
