Job summary

Moog Inc. in Wolverhampton is seeking an apprentice-trained, experienced Machine Shop Operator to support our aerospace manufacturing at the Wolverhampton facility. You will work on close-tolerance machining and contribute to high-profile projects for the aerospace sector.

You will read engineering drawings, set up and use machine tools, and complete quality documentation to ensure parts meet drawing tolerances. This role demands attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate manual honing/lapping stations and related equipment.

• Measure finished parts using air gauges, bore micrometers, and roundness tooling.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Moog Aircraft Group is looking for an apprentice-trained, experienced Machine Shop Operator at our facility based in Wolverhampton. At Moog, we're focused on the customer and for us, this means designing complex mechanical products that are often bespoke and high-profile. Our Machinists work to exceptionally close tolerance, an essential requirement of the aerospace industry

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate both manual honing/lapping stations and Auto-honing , Auto- lapping equipment
• Perform first-off inspections and complete necessary quality documentation.
• Measure finished parts using precision tools like air gauges, bore micrometers and roundness check machines
• Capability and competent in setting up and using machine tools
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications
• Proven experience in a machine shop environment
• Competent in setting up and using machine tools

Key Experience

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• Previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing role, ideally within the aerospace industry.
• Strong knowledge of machining techniques and appropriate tooling.
• Strong competency with high-accuracy measuring instruments and surface finish comparators.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and process improvement techniques.
• Proficiency in using relevant inspection techniques/equipment to achieve drawing tolerances.
• Over 5 years experience on manual honing /lapping equipment
