Job summary

Fairway Form Tools Ltd are seeking a Machine Shop Apprentice to join their Canklow site, assisting with the machining of bespoke parts and developing skills alongside experienced engineers.

You will study Engineering Operative Level 2 with RNN Group at their Rotherham campus, in a day release format, to become a well-rounded Engineer and progress within the steel tooling industry.

Qualifications

  • Motivated to start a career in engineering.
  • Willing to study Engineering Operative Level 2.
  • Based at Canklow site.
  • Able to work safely and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate manual and CNC milling/turning machines (when trained).
  • Inspect finished components & complete job cards.
  • Ensure tooling, fixtures, gauges, drawings etc are available and the machining process is documented.
  • Work safely and carry out your own risk assessment before commencing work.
  • Use a variety of hand tools.
  • Work towards using CAD software to design components.
  • Comply with environmental and safety standards.

About The Role

Would you like to form a successful career in Engineering? Fairway Form Tools Ltd are looking for a highly motivated individual to join them as a Machine Shop Apprentice. You’d be based at their Canklow site and assist with the machining of bespoke parts.

  • Operate manual and [when trained] CNC milling/turning machines
  • Inspect finished components & complete job cards
  • Ensuring tooling, fixtures, gauges, drawings etc are available, prepared and the machining process is documented and understood in readiness for the next job
  • Work safely and in line with written procedures, carrying out your own risk assessment before commencing work
  • Use a variety of hand tools
  • Work towards using CAD software to design components
  • Comply to relevant environmental and safety standards

You’ll develop your skills alongside skilled engineers who are eager to pass on their knowledge, helping you learn a variety of duties and how to support the whole business. You’ll be mentored to achieve your full potential and create the foundation of a career in engineering.

About The Training

The successful candidates will continue their studies with apprenticeship specialists, RNN Group at their Rotherham campus on a day release format, giving you the training and support you need to become an all-rounded and successful Engineer.

The Apprenticeship Standard you will be studying is Engineering Operative- Mechanical Manufacturing- Level 2.
