Job summary

Airedale by Modine in Bradford is seeking a junior machine programmer to join the Sheet Metal department. You will support the machine programming lead to nest production on sheet metal machines and write folding programs for the press brake machines.

Key responsibilities include writing sheet metal folding programs, maintaining a centralised database of machine programs, and contributing to continuous improvement to reduce scrap, changeover time and cycle time, while improving material

Qualifications

• Practical experience of operating sheet metal punch and folding machinery making complex parts.
• Knowledge and practical experience of the programming of sheet metal machinery would be an advantage.
• Experience understanding engineering drawings and CAD information.
• Excellent PC skills.

Responsibilities

• To write sheet metal folding programs for the Press Brake machines
• To help construct, maintain and control a centralised database of machine programs
• To contribute to continuous improvement activities to reduce scrap, changeover time and cycle time and improve material utilisation
• To contribute to problem solving activities to eliminate the cause of errors
• In the long term to develop expert knowledge in the operation of the punch and folding machines and programming for the purposes of waste reduction and capacity improvements
• Liaise with both the office and shop floor personnel/departments for problem solving and improvement purposes
