Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

As an Operator I Trainee, you will learn to perform routine tasks, understand company policies and procedures, and follow written and verbal instructions. This role is considered an apprentice or trainee with a moderate understanding of general job aspects and a superficial understanding of technical parts of the job.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow all company policies regarding safety, quality, and attendance. Perform duties safely and report safety hazards to the Senior Operator, Production Supervisor, Team Lead, or Safety Manager. Act as a safety role model on shift. Participate in safety by reporting unsafe conditions, acts, and close calls; make entries into the Global Data Center (GDC).
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area, meeting plant and department housekeeping standards. Assist with additional housekeeping responsibilities as needed to keep the workspace clean.
• Assist operators with extruder start-ups, thread equipment with film (winders, folders, bag machines, printers), and thread the tower with rope.
• Change formula percentages on blenders according to the Traveler Report, verify correct batches, and update formulas and color changes. Adjust hopper fill times as needed.
• Identify when filters, screen packs, sock sleeves, or print plates are worn or dirty, and replace or clean them accordingly.
• Assist in giving breaks to Packers on the lines.
• Participate in employee-driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety, or production issues.
• If assigned to Roll Stock, obtain forklift certification if not already certified.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Experience: 1-2 years of mechanical experience or previous machine operator experience preferred.

Desired Qualifications: Good communication skills, willingness to ask questions, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, motivated, energetic, and eager to learn.
