Job summary

Interaction Recruitment is hiring a Machine Operator in Sparkford, Somerset. You will set and run Press Brake, CNC Router and Laser machinery in a busy manufacturing setting, handling mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and plastic.

You’ll read drawings, use nesting software to optimise material usage, and ensure quality through measurement and inspection. A rotating early/late shift pattern and overtime opportunities are included.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Press Brake, CNC Router or Laser machinery.
• Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, protractors, squares and tape measures.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating Press Brake, CNC Router and Laser machinery.
• Loading and unloading sheet materials and finished parts.
• Using nesting software to optimise material usage.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings.
• Working from Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Measuring, cutting and inspecting finished components.
• Forming and folding sheet metal and plate using a Press Brake.
• Deburring and finishing components.
• Sorting finished parts by job and material.
• Checking completed work against technical drawings and quality standards.
• Completing production and quality documentation.
• Carrying out basic machine maintenance procedures.
• Identifying potential risks and contributing to continuous improvement.
• Working with colleagues to achieve On-Time Delivery (OTD) targets.
• Operating other machinery when required.
• Maintaining Health & Safety standards.

Machine Operator

Location: Sparkford, Somerset
Pay Rate: £15.26 per hour
Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week
Rotating Shifts | 1 Week Early / 1 Week Late

Interaction Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Machine Operator to join a busy and established manufacturing operation in Sparkford.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machine operator with knowledge of Press Brake, CNC Router or Laser machinery to develop their skills within a fast-paced engineering and production environment.

Shift Pattern

Early Shift - 1 Week

• Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 3:00pm
• Friday: 6:00am - 12:00pm

Late Shift - 1 Week

• Monday - Thursday: 2:00pm - 11:00pm
• Friday: 11:00am - 5:00pm

The Role

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting and operating a range of machinery, including Press Brakes, CNC Routers and Lasers.

You will work with a variety of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and plastic, ensuring materials are correctly checked for size, thickness and grade.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience operating Press Brake, CNC Router or Laser machinery.
• Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, protractors, squares and tape measures.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of nesting software is advantageous.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A positive, self-motivated and productive approach to work.
• Ability to work comfortably within a physically active manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office/365, Sage or CIM50 would also be beneficial but is not essential.
