Job summary

Time Recruitment Solutions Ltd on behalf of our client, a well-established packaging manufacturer, is seeking a reliable Machine Operator to join a busy production team in Oldham. You will help operate and assist with production machinery, ensuring safe, efficient operation and adherence to quality standards.

You will work on rotating shifts (6:00-2:00, 2:00-10:00, and Friday half shifts) totaling 37.5 hours per week, with paid meal breaks.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, production or warehouse.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow instructions and production processes accurately.
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
  • Physically capable of working in a busy production environment.
  • Comfortable working towards KPI and productivity targets.
  • Willingness to wear PPE.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and assist with production machinery in line with company procedures.
  • Monitor the production process to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Identify and report any machine faults, breakdowns, issues or abnormalities to the relevant team leader or maintenance department.
  • Carry out basic checks and assist with resolving production issues where appropriate.
  • Ensure materials are available and correctly positioned for production.
  • Complete warehouse and production duties as required.
  • Move and handle materials and finished products safely.
  • Ensure products meet the required quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to achieve daily production targets.
  • Meet and maintain agreed KPI and productivity targets.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures and instructions.
  • Wear the required PPE at all times.
  • Report any health, safety, quality or operational concerns promptly.
  • Complete production paperwork and records accurately where required.
  • Support other reasonable production and warehouse duties as required.

Job Title: Machine Operator

Department: Production / Warehouse

Contract: Temporary / Ongoing

About the Company

Our client is a well-established packaging manufacturer specialising in the production of corrugated cardboard and packaging solutions. Due to continued demand, they are looking for reliable and hardworking individuals to join their busy production team.

Working Hours

This is a rotating shift position:

  • Week 1: 6:00am - 2:00pm
  • Week 2: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
  • Friday: 5-hour shifts:
    • 6:00am - 11:00am
    • 11:00am - 4:00pm
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Paid meal breaks
  • Friday shifts are paid at 5.5 hours
Job Purpose

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth and efficient running of production machinery and the wider manufacturing process.

You will work as part of a busy production team, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards while achieving daily production and KPI targets.

Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.

  • Previous experience operating production machinery.
  • Experience within the packaging, cardboard or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience working with corrugator machinery.
