Job summary

DS Smith in Blunham is seeking 16 Machine/Production Operatives to join either perm or fixed-term positions. The site offers 12-hour shifts (days and nights) with weekends, located at South Mills, The Ridgeway, Blunham, Bedford MK44 3PH. The rate is £15.96 per hour with opportunities for overtime.

A typical pattern includes a rotating schedule with day and night shifts. Key duties include setting and running machinery, cleaning the area, and quality checking products while adhering to safety

Qualifications

• Ability to operate and set up machinery.
• Experience in a production/manufacturing environment desirable.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to processes.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Able to perform manual handling and stand for long periods.
• Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run machinery as directed.
• Keep machinery and work area clean and well maintained.
• Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
• Perform quality checks on products.
• Meet customer requirements in a timely manner.
• Take on additional duties as assigned by the shift manager.

If so, this opportunity could be the right one for you! DS Smith in Blunham are currently looking for 16 Machine Operatives (6 perm positions & 10 temp for 6 months)

Role: Machine/Production Operative

Location: DS Smith, South Mills, The Ridgeway, Blunham, Bedford MK44 3PH

Rate: £15.96 per hour with over time available

Contract length: Temp - perm depending on performance

Shift Patterns: 6:00 AM/PM to 6:00 PM/AM (12-hour shifts including Days, Nights and weekends)

A typical working pattern would look similar to this:

WK1: Day shift: Mon, Tues work - Weds, Thurs off - Fri, Sat, Sun work

WK2: Day shift: Mon, Tues off - Weds, Thurs work - Fri, Sat, Sun off

WK3: Night shift: Mon, Tues work - Weds, Thurs off - Fri, Sat, Sun work

WK4: Night shift: Mon, Tues off - Weds, Thurs work - Fri, Sat, Sun off

Responsibilities:

• Managing the setting and running of machinery
• Keeping work area and machines clean and tidy
• Working in line with Health and Safety guidance and processes at all times
• Quality checking product
• Adhering to customer demands in a timely manner
• Completing any other duties relevant to the department as requested by the shift manager

Essential requirements:

• Can do attitude
• Willing to learn and develop
• Previous experience in a production/manufacturing environment desirable
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Comfortable being on foot for long periods of time
• Able to conduct manual handling
• The flexibility to work all shifts mentioned (nights and weekends)
