Job summary

Sofina Foods is recruiting for a hands-on engineer/operator in Grimsby to manage and optimise production machinery. You will work in a fast-paced, multi-functional site environment with coated products and white fish processing experience valued.

Qualifications

• Good use of Microsoft Office Applications.
• Experience of working in Chilled and Frozen Environments with coated products and white fish processing.
• Ability to work with peers in a matrix structure to draw in external skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and projects across a multi-function organisation.
• A personal commitment to role model behaviours.
• Mechanically / Electrical minded with an interest in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Exercise diligence and judgement to promote transparent, values-led and professional machine minding activities on site.
• Drive improvements of equipment with long-term site benefits.
• Complete machinery / equipment set ups and changeovers.
• Perform machinery checks in line with food safety and H&S guidelines.
• Hand back to Production / Hygiene and Technical as applicable.
• Minimise downtime without compromising food safety and H&S.
• Report faults and abnormalities; help prevent breakdowns.
• Assist Technicians with breakdowns and tool changes.
• Take ownership of machinery and train operatives to be proactive.
• Monitor machinery to ensure optimal performance.
• Apply financial discipline to projects for value for money.
• Generate ideas to improve performance in the working area.
• Maintain continuous visual checks during shifts.

Your Key Responsibilities

• To exercise diligence and judgement to promote transparent, values-led and professional machine minding activities of the equipment on site.
• Drive the improvement of the equipment that will have continuing long-term benefits for the site.
• Complete machinery / equipment set ups and changeovers.
• Complete machinery checks in line with food safety and H&S legislation and site guidelines.
• Complete hand backs to Production / Hygiene and Technical, where applicable.
• Ensure downtime is kept to a minimum, without compromising food safety and H&s.
• Reporting faults, abnormalities and be proactive in the prevention of machinery and equipment breakdown.
• Assist Engineering Technicians with breakdowns and tool changes.
• Take ownership of the machinery and educate Operatives to become more proactive and respectful of the equipment and machinery they operate.
• Monitor existing machinery / equipment to make sure they continue to perform at an optimal level.
• The application of financial rigor to all activities to ensure value for money on all projects implemented for the site.
• Independently generate ideas to improve performance in working area.
• Monitor and maintain a continual visual check throughout the working shift.
