Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control) for a permanent post at the Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. You will support survey machine-controlled plant and perform checks, as-built work, and laser-scanned modelling to maintain high survey standards.

The role operates on a 7/3/7/4 shift pattern in a live MOD facility; you will work with engineers and subcontractors to ensure alignment with programme and QA/QC processes while upholding health, safety and environmental

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction.
• Experience in surveying on civil engineering projects.
• Experience with Leica machine control equipment.
• CSCS card and site safety qualifications.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Check and maintain survey control networks.
• Support machine control application for excavation, demolition and drilling operations.
• Check design and create models for machine control.
• Complete checking of machine control operations.
• Provide check reports and as-builts, through laser scanning and modelling of point clouds.
• Ensure survey data is collected and recorded accurately, following QA/QC standards.
• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align construction programme and survey operations.
• Attend daily briefings and provide updates on survey progress and issues.
• Manage and archive survey files and records to support project compliance and audits.
• Ensure all surveying works meet health, safety, and environmental regulations.
