Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an Engineering Surveyor (Assurance) for a live MOD site at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. You will perform secondary checks, maintain survey networks, and support civil engineering surveys to ensure QA/QC compliance.

Essential qualifications include a civil engineering or surveying degree, site experience, and familiarity with total stations, GPS/GNSS and laser scanners. CSCS and professional membership are highly regarded for progression.

Qualifications

• Degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction.
• Site based role with experience in surveying and construction industries.
• Considerable years of surveying experience on civil engineering projects.
• Experience with surveying equipment: total stations, GPS/GNSS and laser scanners.
• Knowledge of QC1 procedures and civils quality documentation.
• CSCS card and relevant site safety qualifications.
• Member of CinstCES or working towards full membership, or an equivalent body.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Check and maintain survey control networks.
• Conduct assurance surveys for RC structures (pre-pour and post-pour).
• Perform as-built surveys using laser scanning and point clouds.
• Ensure survey data accuracy and QA/QC compliance.
• Operate survey equipment with high precision in civils environments.
• Support setting-out activities and alignment with construction programs.
• Prepare survey reports, drawings, and data outputs for teams.
• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.
• Contribute to quality control procedures and traceability standards.
• Manage and archive survey files for audits and compliance.
• Attend briefings and provide progress updates; ensure health and safety compliance.
• Other tasks as assigned within capabilities and training.
