Job summary

BCA in Corby is recruiting an HGV Workshop Apprentice to train as a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician. Based at our Corby VMU, the role combines hands-on workshop training with day release for college study.

You will learn from skilled technicians, gain practical skills, and progress toward the Level 3 qualification while earning a wage. The program runs for 32 months plus EPA, with mentoring and a strong emphasis on health and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and not in full-time education.
• Willingness to learn and follow mentoring instructions.
• Awareness of health & safety in workshops. Professional attitude expected.
• Ability to learn from skilled Technicians and retain guidance.

Responsibilities

About The Role

HGV Workshop Apprentice – Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician

32 Months (+3 months EPA)

Reporting to: Head of VMU Operations Corby

The HGV Apprenticeship offers hands‑on‑related workshop training and experience alongside day release to study at college - providing practical, on-the-job training and classroom-based instruction.

Main objectives:

Based in our Corby VMU this role will offer the following:

• The opportunity to work alongside highly qualified & skilled Technicians and to learn from their experience.
• To be paid a competitive wage whilst gaining the practical skills, knowledge and experience required to gain a Level 3 qualification.

Candidate requirement:

• Must be at least 16 years of age and not in full time education.
• Must be able to follows instruction and guidance from mentoring technicians retain instruction for future use, ask relevant questions and demonstrate a positive attitude to learning.
• Must understand the Health & Safety requirements within the workshop and the importance of good housekeeping.
• Must behave in a mature and professional manner in the workplace and demonstrate good attendance and timekeeping.
