Job summary

Search Consultancy LTD is recruiting an experienced M&E Site Manager to oversee mechanical and electrical works on a National Grid substation project at Wymondley, near Hitchin. The role requires coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors and ensuring safety and quality on a HV infrastructure site.

You will read drawings, monitor progress against programme, and liaise with project managers to deliver on time. CIS payroll; up to £500 per day; ASAP start.

Qualifications

• National Grid Person ticket is essential.
• Relevant mechanical and/or electrical qualifications.
• Valid CSCS card or CCNSG Safety Passport.
• Proven experience managing M&E works on substations or power infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day M&E site activities within a National Grid substation environment.
• Oversee installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of M&E systems and equipment.
• Coordinate subcontractors and site teams to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety rules, RAMS, permits to work and electrical safety requirements.
• Monitor progress against the construction programme and implement corrective actions.
• Review RAMS and ensure understanding by site personnel.
• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and progress meetings.
• Maintain health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Liaise with Project Manager, Construction Manager, engineers and client representatives to coordinate interfaces.
• Monitor workmanship against drawings and project documentation.
• Manage site documentation such as daily reports and inspection records.
• Identify and resolve technical or operational issues.
• Ensure materials, equipment, labour and subcontractors are coordinated to support programme.
• Support testing, commissioning, handover and close-out activities.
