Job summary

Executive Network Group in Birmingham is seeking a M.E.S Developer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will design, develop, and deliver a modern MES application on the shop floor, collaborating with IT and business stakeholders.

The role requires C# development, .NET 8+, Blazor, REST APIs, SQL Server, and secure, scalable solutions. You’ll work in a hybrid model with two days on-site.

Qualifications

• Commercial C# development experience with web applications and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of C#, .NET 8+, Visual Studio, REST APIs, JSON, SQL Server, Git, HTML, CSS and Bootstrap.
• Understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Experience implementing security practices including multi-factor authentication.

Job Title – M.E.S Developer

Location – Birmingham (2 Hybrid days)

Salary – £45,000 - £55,000 FTC

Purpose of the role

Our client within FMCG machinery manufacturing is seeking a M.E.S (Manufacturing Execution Systems) Developer to join our IT Development team on an initial 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This role will focus on delivering phase two of Manufacturing Execution System (M.E.S) – a critical solution used to monitor and control the shop floor production processes. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering a modern, scalable M.E.S application, working closely with both the internal IT team and wider project stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance MES applications using C# and .NET 8+.
• Interpret business requirements into development.
• Develop responsive web applications using Blazor.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs.
• Design and develop SQL Server database solutions.
• Ensure applications are secure, scalable, and performant.
• Apply SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Collaborate with IT and business teams.
• Support development & deployments using Azure DevOps.
• Maintain documentation and provide support.
• Ensure work is carried out to a high level of competence, meeting agreed completion/implementation dates.
• Develop from initial discussion through to final assets and support, including design, code, database, cyber‑security measures, and integration with other applications/systems.
• Be accountable for the delivery, installation, training, and ongoing support of the project.
• Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities to meet future business needs as and when identified.

Qualifications

• Commercial C# development experience, knowledge of working with web applications and APIs.
• Excellent working knowledge of C#, .NET 8+, Visual Studio (2019+), REST APIs, JSON, SQL Server, Git, HTML, CSS and Bootstrap.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Experience implementing security best practices, including complex password policies, JWT tokens, and multi‑factor authentication.
• Highly organised and self‑motivated with excellent communication skills, strong problem‑solving abilities, and the capability to understand complex systems whilst delivering work to agreed deadlines.
