M&E Quantity Surveyor

Location: Cardiff

Type: Permanent

Sphere Solutions are currently recruiting for an M&E Quantity Surveyor to work for a large contractor on the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.

As an M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to create a state-of-the-art cancer centre. You will support project leaders in delivering high standards of service, achieving successful outcomes, sharing knowledge across projects, and fostering innovation. Your responsibilities will include managing contract administration, risk management, and negotiations to ensure profitability and cash flow, while keeping line management informed and seeking guidance when necessary.

Key Responsibilities include:

1. Communicate and liaise with M&E subcontractors.
2. Ensure commercial compliance of current contracts to protect the company's position.
3. Report to Lead Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager / Project Director and other stakeholders about subcontract status, including updates to the Sacyr cost control platform.
4. Assist in procurement, contract administration, variations, and work package management.
5. Perform quantity take-offs.
6. Assist with monthly work-in-progress reports alongside the Commercial Manager / Project Director.
7. Manage delegated resources such as budgets, equipment, and contracts to ensure value for money.

Essential Criteria:

• Right to work in the UK
• Minimum BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• Either 4 years postgraduate experience in a similar role with NEC contract experience (NEC3 or NEC4 option C), OR 8 years' experience in a similar role
• Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to analyze and communicate complex ideas effectively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
