Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group is seeking an experienced M&E Manager to oversee mechanical and electrical works on a major residential development in Essex. The role involves coordinating M&E services, reviewing drawings, and ensuring works meet programme, safety and quality standards.

You will manage M&E subcontractors and liaise with project leadership to ensure smooth delivery through to completion in 2028, with a strong emphasis on safety, coordination and technical problem-solving.

Our client is delivering a major residential development in Essex. The project is scheduled to continue through to 2028, creating an excellent opportunity for an experienced M&E professional to join the project team and play a key role in the successful delivery of the development.

Due to continued project requirements, they are looking to appoint an experienced M&E Manager to oversee the mechanical and electrical elements of the works from construction through to completion.

The role:

As M&E Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all mechanical and electrical services across the residential project, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards. You will oversee M&E subcontractors and specialist contractors, coordinate services with the wider construction programme and work closely with the Project Manager, Site Managers, design teams and wider project team.

The role will involve reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information, resolving design and coordination issues, managing RFIs and technical queries, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring M&E installations are delivered in accordance with project specifications and relevant regulations. You will also be involved in commissioning, testing, snagging and final handover, supporting the project through to completion in 2028.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced M&E Manager with a strong background in construction and, ideally, residential developments or large-scale building projects. You will have proven experience managing M&E packages and subcontractors, with a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical building services, construction programmes and technical coordination.

You should be confident reading and interpreting M&E drawings and specifications, managing technical issues and coordinating multiple stakeholders. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a good understanding of UK building regulations, health and safety requirements and relevant M&E standards. Experience of testing, commissioning, snagging and handover would also be highly beneficial.
