Job summary

The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract is seeking a Lymphoedema Assistant Practitioner to join our specialist service. You will support patients with lymphoedema, delivering high-quality care both independently and with our team, across inpatient, outpatient and community settings.

The role offers development opportunities within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on prevention, self-care, and holistic support for patients and carers.

Qualifications

• Level 2/3 NVQ or BTEC in a care related subject or equivalent.
• Willingness to work towards Diploma in Lymphoedema Management.
• Experience working independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Good patient communication, including with those with barriers to understanding.
• Understanding of safe practice environments and professional boundaries.
• Transferrable skills to support our Wellbeing team when deemed appropriate.
• A valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle to attend external clinics and community groups.

Responsibilities

• Delivering treatment including skin care, compression therapy, lymphatic drainage, bandaging, pneumatic compression and kinesio-taping.
• Conducting unsupervised clinics for stable patients and supporting review clinics.
• Educating patients and carers on self-care and lifestyle practices, with a focus on prevention and long-term wellbeing.
• Accurately assessing and monitoring treatment outcomes.
• Liaising with internal and external services to ensure holistic patient support.
• Participating in wellbeing groups and initiatives.
