Job summary

Core Search are working with a premium UK MEP contractor and are expanding their testing team in Cambridge. You will supervise up to four test operatives and lead LV installation testing, inspection and documentation for ongoing life science projects.

The role offers progression and long‑term security with work secured through 2028. You will coordinate testing schedules, ensure BS7671 compliance, and liaise with the project team to close out non‑conformities.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising test teams in LV wiring projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical test procedures and standards.
• Ability to manage schedules, documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise up to 4 test operatives.
• Testing and commissioning of LV installation as procedure.
• Complete testing schedules and test sheets for sub mains, sub circuits, earthing, modular wiring.
• Inspect installation for BS7671 compliance.
• Review test results and inform project team of out-of-parameter results.
• Coordinate test activities and keep project tracker updated.
• Provide information for NICEIC completion certification.

Core Search are working with one of the UK's premium MEP Contractors who work on large scale data centre, life science & commercial projects across London & the South.

They are looking to expand their testing team working on a major scale life science project, working out of their headquarters in Cambridge. The project is ongoing for over 2 years itself, however this is an opportunity to join an ever expanding team in the region.

Salary/Package:

• £65/70k Base
• £5k Car Allowance
• Full Travel/Expenses
• Death in Service

Duties:

• Manage and supervise up to 4 test operatives
• Testing and commissioning of LV installation as procedure
• Complete testing schedules and test sheet for, sub main, sub circuit, earthing, modular wiring
• Complete DB check sheets, installation reports and snag sheets
• Inspect installation for compliance with BS7671
• Inspection of switchgear and installation methods
• Review all test results, inform T&C manager/Project team of results outside parameters
• Manage and co-ordinate Fixed Wiring , Earthing & Modular wiring testing
• Manage and update project tracker
• Manage and update project schematics (lockable frame)
• Check protective devise settings against selectivity study
• Check and record torque of connections to manufacturers required levels
• Manage and co-ordinate request for power and documentation issue
• Manage and co-ordinate request for isolation and documentation issue
• Assist specialist sub contractors
• Manage LOTO procedure
• Inspection of switchgear and installation methods
• Check project test instruments, test leads and calibrations
• Review and advice on required updates to project ITP
• Co-ordinate areas to test and review handover packs from CM
• Issue inspection reports, DB & Earth bar check sheets to project team
• Issue snags & non compliances issued to project team
• Ensure project team have closed out snags and non-compliant items
• Carryout client witnessing of LV fixed & modular wiring test results
• Provide information for NICEIC completion certification
• Carryout emergency lighting testing and verification
