Job summary

Lucy Electric is seeking an experienced LV/HV Authorised Person to join our engineering division, delivering LV/HV services and supporting projects across sites with travel as needed.

You will lead project delivery, interpret drawings, and ensure safety paperwork and RAMS are completed, while developing technical competencies and mentoring peers.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in Electrical and/or distribution Industry.
  • Holds SAP Authorisation – SSEN, Private Networks.
  • Certified in electricity at work; able to deliver services on site or in office.
  • Good knowledge of H&S and Distribution Safety rules.
  • Computer literate – MS Office.
  • Technically qualified with a BTEC, C&G or equivalent apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
  • Full driver’s license; willingness to travel and work weekends as overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of major projects and smaller day works from CDM to product support.
  • Install, refurbish, and maintain LV/HV equipment.
  • Interpret electrical drawings and records.
  • Carry out electrical testing and fault finding.
  • Schedule site work with engineers, subcontractors, and utilities.
  • Plan outages and safety paperwork for LV/HV switching activities.
  • Maintain authorisations and safety procedures.
  • Liaise with team to manage priorities.
  • Attend training and development opportunities.
  • Electrical commissioning and RAMS preparation.

Job Context

You will work as part of a highly skilled Engineering division supporting all aspects of LV/HV services to our clients and customers. As part of our team you will get to both support your peers in the delivery of LV/HV engineering and also be required to lead projects when called on. We strive forwards as a team advancing our technical skills, knowledge, and competencies together, whilst ensuring a flexible work life balance is worked into our ethos.

Job Dimensions

You will be working with a team of skilled LV/HV Engineers, SAP’s and supporting staff across all aspects of the LV/HV industry. The role is home based with travel to site works included within your working day. The core hours are 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 07:30 am to 12:00 Friday, depending on operational work and site requirements additional hours will be required. Opportunities to support additional overtime through evenings, weekends and travel abroad are also frequently available.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the delivery of a range of major projects through to smaller day works. This could cover a range of activities from CDM construction projects, LV/HV asset maintenance, repairs, upgrades; to Lucy Product support.
  • Installation, refurbishment, maintenance of LV/HV equipment
  • Interpret electrical drawings and records.
  • Carry out electrical testing and fault finding.
  • Carry out mechanical modifications and repairs.
  • Complete assessment and completion reports.
  • Schedule and coordinate site work with a range of engineers, sub-contractors, and utilities companies.
  • Assist in the management job costing, material specifications and logistics.
  • Maintain Senior Authorised Person competence.
  • Plan outages, produce switching programmes and other safety paperwork for LV/HV switching activities.
  • Assess safety and apply controls and safety measures required.
  • Completing RAMS, job packs, test certificates and reports.
  • Facilitate a safe working environment during high / low voltage working.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Lucy Electric and its customers.
  • Maintain all authorisations in accordance with legislative our safety procedures and industry best practice.
  • Liaise closely with team to understand and manage priorities.
  • Attend training and continuous development opportunities as required.
  • Electrical commissioning.

  • PASMA, IPAF, SMSTS
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
  • Proven track record of experience in the Electrical and/or distribution Industry.
  • Holds SAP Authorisation – SSEN, Private Networks
  • Certified in electricity at work and experience of delivering efficient and effective services to customers whether on site or at a planning stage from an office environment.
  • Good knowledge of H&S and its practical implications.
  • Good knowledge of Distribution Safety rules and their application.
  • Computer literate – skilled in MS office
  • Technically qualified with a BTEC, C&G or equivalent apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering
  • Full driver’s License, willingness to travel and work weekends as overtime or with a day off in the week.
Desirable
  • Have, or held authorisations – Private Networks, UKPN, WPD or other DNO
  • Training - first aid, IPAF, PASMA, SMSTS
  • 18th edition / 2391 inspection & testing
  • Mentoring of trainees.
  • Willingness to work weekends and call outs.
