Job summary

St James' Catholic Primary School Orrell is seeking a Teaching Assistant – Lunchtime Supervisor to supervise pupils throughout lunchtime and support the school’s ethos.

The post focuses on supervising children in the hall, cloakrooms and playground, promoting good manners, social skills and safe play during lunch, with training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children.
• Ability to supervise during lunchtime and manage behaviour in line with school policy.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children during lunchtime in the hall, cloakrooms and playground areas.
• Encourage good behaviour and manage behaviour according to school policy.
• Encourage good table manners and develop social skills suitable for age.
• Join in with playtime games and activities.
• Report accidents or misbehaviour to class teachers after each session.
• Ensure a first aider is informed of any accidents and pupils needing attention.

Themain duties of the post are as follows –

• Supervisechildren during lunchtime, in the hall, cloakrooms and playground areas
• Encourage goodbehaviour and manage behaviour appropriately in line with the requirementsof the school behaviour policy
• Encourage goodtable manners and develop social skills appropriate to the age of thechild
• Encourage andjoin in with playtime games and activities
• Report to theclass teachers any accidents, incidents or misbehaviour at the end of eachsession
• Ensure a firstaider is informed of any accidents, and that pupils who are injured orsick are attended to as appropriate
• Tidy up and wipeup spillages in the hall
• Participate inall training relevant to the position
• Be supportive ofthe School’s ethos at all times
