Job summary

Wareham St Mary CE Primary School is hiring a Midday Assistant to supervise pupils at lunch, serve or supervise servery areas, and maintain a clean eating space. Experience with children and willingness to undertake training are desirable. DBS clearance, First Aid and Food Hygiene training are preferred.

Role supports term-time operations and involves working across the lunch period. Salary is pro rata for 38 weeks of the year, with potential progression within the lunchtime team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in primary schools.
• Willing to undertake training.
• Basic First Aid training.
• Food Hygiene training.
• Satisfactory DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Be ready five minutes before the lunchtime with the necessary equipment.
• Ensure pupils have clean hands before eating.
• Encourage good table manners and orderly behaviour.
• Clean tables, chairs and floor after lunch.
• Cover playground and classrooms during changeovers.
• Administer simple first aid as required or advise first aider.
• Report major injuries to the Headteacher.
• Ensure no pupil leaves the premises during lunchtime without permission.
• Escort visitors to the office.
• Undertake playground duties to supervise pupils.
• Supervise pupils in the classroom if weather is wet.
• Float to give extra assistance when a class is absent on a visit.
• Lock outside doors during lunch and unlock at the end of the period.
• After lunch, clean up in the kitchen if needed.
