Job summary

Harris Primary Academy Purley Way within the Harris Federation is recruiting a Midday Meals Supervisor. You will supervise pupils at lunchtime, assist with play and dining activities, and support safe, orderly conduct during the 12.5-hour weekly schedule (38 weeks per year).

The role involves encouraging positive engagement and maintaining health and safety standards. Successful candidates will have good English, experience supervising pupils, and strong organisational skills to coordinate

Qualifications

• Understanding of the educational and welfare needs of pupils during midday break
• Appreciation of meals as social and educational occasions
• Experience supervising pupils in a relevant age setting
• Good spoken and written English
• Ability to encourage and inspire young people
• Good organisational skills
• Ability to work across levels and responsibilities
• Ability to liaise with parents professionally

Responsibilities

• Undertaking direct supervision of pupils during lunch
• Assisting with decisions on areas for pupil use (e.g. wet lunchtimes)
• Supporting safe use of play equipment and dining activities
• Encouraging games and activities while maintaining health and safety
• Helping with meal service, choosing and handling food, returning trays and cutlery
• Supporting pupils in play/other areas who may need assistance
• Dealing with minor incidents and referring serious matters as needed
• Cleaning up spillages to maintain order and safety
