Job summary

Our Lady And St Gerard's RC Primary School in Lostock Hall is seeking two caring Lunchtime Welfare Assistants to join our dedicated team. This role supports children during lunchtime, encourages safe play, and helps create a fun, inclusive environment where every child feels valued.

You will supervise indoors and outdoors, lead games, model respectful behaviour, and work with staff to promote positive relationships.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent qualification).
• Good literacy and numeracy to communicate effectively with children and staff.
• Commitment to safeguarding training and willingness to undertake any required training.
• Experience supervising children during breaktimes or lunchtimes.
• Experience leading games, sports or structured play activities.
• Understanding of child development and children's social and emotional needs.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs.
• Desirable: Paediatric First Aid or equivalent first aid qualification.

Responsibilities

• Supervising children during the lunchtime period, indoors and outdoors.
• Encouraging positive behaviour in line with the school's Behaviour Charter and values.
• Organising and leading games and activities that promote cooperation, friendship and inclusion.
• Supporting children to develop positive relationships and resolve minor disagreements appropriately.
• Promoting children's safety, wellbeing and enjoyment throughout lunchtime.
• Working closely with teaching staff and the wider school team to ensure a positive lunchtime environment.
• Acting as a positive role model, demonstrating kindness, respect and compassion at all times.
