Thames Valley School in Reading is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the lunchtime team. The role is part-time, term-time only, with a 11:00–13:30 shift, and requires adherence to food hygiene standards. Training will be provided for school-specific procedures and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include preparing and serving meals, checking temperatures, labeling meals for dietary needs, and keeping kitchen areas clean. Previous school catering experience is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• Candidate must complete a Food Hygiene Training Course and Certificate for Schools; training provided by the school.
• Experience in a school or catering service is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve all school meals during lunch service.
• Record daily food temperatures and ensure food safety compliance.
• Label meals to identify dietary and allergy requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas; monitor stock and ordering.
• Report faults or unsafe practices with kitchen equipment to staff.
