Job summary

Axcis Education in Carshalton is seeking a caring and reliable SEND Teaching Assistant to provide lunch cover for pupils with SEMH, ASD and complex needs. The role offers flexible part-time hours in a supportive specialist setting and requires empathy with non-verbal pupils.

You will work during lunchtime with pupils, help with emotional regulation, social interaction and basic personal care where needed, while collaborating with teachers and the support team in a safeguarding-focused

Qualifications

• A caring, patient and reliable approach.
• Experience working with SEND, SEMH or ASD is desirable.
• Confidence supporting non-verbal pupils.
• Calm and consistent when supporting emotional regulation.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable and committed to pupil wellbeing.
• Willingness to support pupils with a range of individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils during lunchtime and unstructured periods.
• Working with pupils with SEMH, ASD and complex needs.
• Supporting non-verbal pupils with communication and interaction.
• Helping pupils regulate their emotions and manage behaviour.
• Encouraging positive social interaction and independence.
• Supporting pupils to have a safe and positive lunchtime.
• Assisting with personal care where required.
• Monitoring pupils and responding to their individual needs.
• Working alongside teachers and the wider support team.
