Job summary

Hewicks Haulage Ltd is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our family-run team, based at our Cockfield depot near Bury St Edmunds. The role involves nationwide UK travel with a focus on animal feed deliveries and tanker work.

You will work a Monday to Friday pattern with 4–5 nights out per week. We offer overtime after 50 hours, enhanced weekend rates, a monthly bonus prize draw, and added benefits after probation including health cover and an Employee Ownership Trust.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 licence.
• Experience with road tankers is desirable.
• Must be fluent in English to complete paperwork and communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver animal feed in bulk liquid form across the UK.
• Operate road tankers and vac tanks after training.
• Carry out curtain-side and container work as needed and progress into tanker roles.

Due to our continued growth and success, we at Hewicks Haulage have fantastic opportunities for HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our family-run team.

Successful applicants will be required to work a full Monday to Friday shift pattern, which will include 4–5 nights out per week. On occasion, there may also be a requirement for a run-in on a Saturday or a run-off on a Sunday if work dictates. The Transport Team will always discuss and agree any weekend cover requirements with you in advance.

We operate a modern fleet of eye-catching Scania trucks, all equipped with fridges, microwaves, storage lockers, and sat navs.

The role primarily involves delivering animal feed in bulk liquid form. Full in-house training will be provided on the use of our road tankers and vac tanks. We also undertake a variety of curtain-side and container work, meaning there is an opportunity to start within these areas and progress into tanker work.

Our drivers earn, on average, in the region of £50,000 over a standard five-day working week. Pay is made on a four-weekly basis.

Please note:

• The role is based at our depot/yard in Cockfield, Bury St Edmunds. Travel is throughout the UK; this is a national driving role only (no international travel).
• Drivers must be fluent in English, as the ability to complete paperwork and communicate effectively with customers is essential.
• A minimum of 4–5 nights out per week is required for this role.
