Job summary

Bury Council is seeking a Children's Social Worker to join the Looked after Children team. You will manage a caseload of looked-after children, complete risk and needs assessments, and develop care plans promoting the child’s best interests.

You will undertake LAC reviews, advocate for the child’s voice, and work with families, foster carers and multiple agencies to ensure safe, stable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with registration in good standing.
• Experience assessing looked-after children and care planning.
• Ability to work collaboratively with agencies and families.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of looked-after children and young people.
• Complete assessments identifying risks, needs and interventions.
• Develop, implement and review care plans to promote best interests.
• Undertake statutory LAC reviews and reflect children's views.
• Promote permanence through reunification, kinship, adoption or guardianship.
• Assess and support foster carers and other placements.
• Monitor placement stability and respond to changes in risk.
• Engage directly with children to understand experiences and advocate.
• Collaborate with health, CAMHS, police, schools and other agencies.
