Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Steel Fixer for a major long-term project in Plymouth. The role involves reading drawings, fixing reinforcement, and coordinating with formwork and concrete teams on-site.

Candidates should hold a Level 2 NVQ in Steel Fixing, CSCS Blue card, Safety Critical Medical, and BPSS clearance. Long hours with generous overtime available on a significant infrastructure project.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 NVQ in Steel Fixing.
• CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card is required.
• Safety Critical Medical is required.
• Recent experience as a Steel Fixer on construction or civil projects.
• Ability to read reinforcement drawings and schedules.
• Good understanding of steel fixing techniques.
• Able to work effectively in a busy site team.
• Must meet BPSS security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Cut, bend and fix reinforcement steel per drawings and specs.
• Fix reinforcement, mesh and related materials on site.
• Read and interpret reinforcement drawings and schedules.
• Tie reinforcement with appropriate tools and methods.
• Install reinforcement for concrete structures, slabs, walls and foundations.
• Work closely with formwork, concrete and site teams.
• Ensure proper positioning before concrete pours.
• Use hand and power tools for steel fixing.
• Maintain high health and safety standards on site.
