Job summary

MGI Engineering Ltd is seeking a Logistics Operator to pack, store parts, and support material flow. The role requires driving a forklift and long wheelbase vehicle for deliveries and collections as needed.

We expect experience in stock management, order picking, and packing, with a proactive approach to tasks. A clean driving licence and forklift certification are essential, with HSE training available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Stock Management: Unpack, label, and store parts; booking in/out on MRP Easy; ensure correct identification and safe storage; assist with audits.
  • Picking and Packing: Pick orders, pack for dispatch, book finished goods stock in production and on MRP Easy; contact suppliers for urgent orders.
  • Health & Safety: Follow H&S guidelines; maintain clean and safe environment; assist with delivery documentation and ad-hoc duties.
  • QMS Development: Understand Quality Management System principles and develop work instructions in line with company practices.
  • Experience: Previous stores/warehouse experience; ability to drive long wheelbase vehicle; stock management experience.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for packing and placing parts into storage, ensuring all stock is properly organised, and supporting the efficient flow of materials within the company. The role also requires the ability to drive a Fork Lift Truck (FLT), long wheelbase vehicle for deliveries and collections as needed.

Key Responsibilities
Stock Management
  • Unpack, label, and store parts in designated areas.
  • Booking in and out stock on MRP Easy.
  • Ensure all parts and materials are correctly identified, logged, and stored safely.
  • Assist with inventory checks and stock audits as required.
  • Ensure parts are easily accessible for engineers and other team members when needed.
  • Ensuring that specialist items and materials are stored correctly.
  • Monitor inventory stock out dates and update scrap using MRP Easy.
Picking and Packing
  • Pick orders for parts and materials based on production or engineering requirements.
  • Pack and prepare materials for dispatch in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Booking in finished goods stock from production physically and on MRP Easy
  • Be comfortable contacting suppliers to understand where parts orders and when necessary expediting any orders which give a timing issue.
Health & Safety Compliance
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines when handling, storing, and transporting materials.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
  • General stores duties, including unloading deliveries and storing goods.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks related to stock control and delivery documentation.
  • Assist with any other ad-hoc duties as required by the Warehouse or Supply Chain team.
QMS Development
  • Understand the principals of Quality Management System and be able to develop work instructions in line with company wide practice.
Experience
  • Previous experience in a stores or warehouse environment is desirable.
  • Ability to safely drive a company vehicle (likely a long wheelbase) is a must.
  • Experience in stock management, order picking, and packing is an advantage.
Skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with team members, clients, and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems – MRP Easy (or willingness to learn).
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
Other
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (manual handling).
  • Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • A flexible approach to work and willingness to assist with other tasks as required.
Qualifications
