Job summary

Wilson James is recruiting a Logistics Operative to join the Stores & Compounds team at Hinkley Point C, Somerset. You will manage controlled receipt, storage and issue of tooling, consumables and materials, ensuring contractors have the resources to work safely and efficiently.

The role is permanent with a 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off day pattern (06:00-18:00) and an hourly salary of £15.72 rising to £17.77 after completing the progression pathway. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• CITB Operative Health & Safety Test completed before starting
• Previous stores, warehouse or stock control experience

• Ability to follow processes and maintain accurate records
• Strong work ethic and reliable approach
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Receiving and putting away incoming materials and equipment
• Controlling issue and return of stores items
• Conducting stock checks and inventory control
• Identifying maintenance needs for tooling and electrical equipment
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards in stores and compounds
• Supporting contractors with materials and equipment issuance
• Maintaining accurate stock records and inventory systems
• Following Safe Systems of Work and HPC Code of Conduct
• Carrying out other duties as requested by the Line Manager

Salary: £15.72 per hour, progressing to £17.77 per hour upon completion of the Wilson James Progression Pathway
Hours: Average 40.25 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off
Day Shift: 06:00-18:00

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join Wilson James as a Logistics Operative within our Stores & Compounds Team at Hinkley Point C, one of the UK's largest and most significant infrastructure projects.

Working as part of a dedicated logistics team, you will support the safe and efficient operation of stores and compounds across site. You will be responsible for the controlled receipt, storage and issue of tooling, consumables and materials, ensuring contractors have access to the resources they need to deliver works safely and effectively.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Logistics Operative within Stores & Compounds, you will be responsible for:

• Receiving and putting away incoming materials, tooling and equipment
• Controlling the issue and return of stores items
• Conducting stock checks and inventory control activities
• Identifying maintenance requirements for tooling and electrical equipment, including calibration, PAT testing and thorough examinations
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards across stores and compound areas
• Supporting contractors with the issue of materials, consumables and equipment
• Maintaining accurate stock records and inventory systems
• Following Safe Systems of Work and the HPC Code of Conduct at all times
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties as requested by your Line Manager

What We Need From You

Essential

• CITB Operative Health & Safety Test (to be completed before starting)
• Previous stores, warehouse or stock control experience
• Good communication skills
• Ability to follow processes and maintain accurate records
• Strong work ethic and reliable approach
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable

• Experience working within the construction industry
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical tooling and consumables
• Understanding of logistics processes, stock control and regulations
• Experience working within stores, compounds or warehouse environments

Site Requirements

• Ability to provide a 3-year employment, education and/or unemployment history and successfully complete the required HPC vetting process
• Ability to obtain and maintain an HPC Site Pass
• Ability to work the 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off day shift pattern (06:00-18:00)
• Please be aware that access to site requires a bus journey of approximately 45 minutes each way
