Job summary

MEMS Power Generation Limited. is seeking a proactive hire desk coordinator in Rainham to learn and develop the management of our hire control desk, scheduling deliveries and collections of rental equipment via our vehicle fleet.

The role forms part of a small team on a shift rota, aimed at delivering exceptional service to MEMS customers. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, a driving licence, and be comfortable working in a pressurised environment with Microsoft tools and

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Computer literate in Microsoft products and bespoke software.
• Experience in customer service, logistics or planning is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the management of the hire control desk and scheduling deliveries/collections of rental equipment.
• Maximise utilisation of the hire plant and control hire costs.
• Analyse profit and loss per job and work with the sales team on new business.
• Deliver and collect plant equipment, keeping costs down and customer satisfaction high.
• Ensure vehicles and drivers are used to maximum capacity and load lorries with forklifts when required.
• Maintain accurate records/data in line with the Data Protection Act.
• Plan maintenance for generators as per MEMS policy and assist with fuel delivery planning.
• Maintain the depot yard and workshop safety, and cover colleagues during absence.

Job description

The hire desk operates 24/7, managing planned work and rapid response emergency callouts. You will learn and develop your ability to assist with the management of our hire control desk whilst scheduling deliveries and collections of rental equipment via our fleet of HGV and LGV vehicles., Control of all aspects of the hire department

• Maximise the utilisation of the hire plant
• Control the cost of hire equipment
• Analyse profit and loss per job
• Work alongside the sales department in the development of new business
• Delivery and collection of all plant equipment whilst keeping costs down and increasing customer satisfaction
• Ensure that vehicles and drivers are being used to their maximum capacity
• Accurately pick orders and load lorries via forklift truck ready for delivery
• Maintain appropriate accurate records and data in accordance with the Data Protection Act
• Assist with planning the delivery of fuel
• Assist and cover colleagues when on holiday and / or sickness
• Ensure the depot yard and workshop is safe and secure at night and weekends
• Minimise cost for materials
• Plan maintenance for generators as per the MEMS policy
• Maintain and implement the call out rota for service engineers and drivers
• Work alongside the transport department regarding all transport requirements

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; a driver's licence; good organisational and interpersonal skills; be able to work in a pressured environment and be computer literate in Microsoft and have an awareness of bespoke software.

Experience within customer service, logistics and planning within a similar environment is preferred, however not essential.

Willing to "get hands on" as and when required, picking, loading and unloading equipment.
