Job summary

Owen Daniels in Livingston, UK, is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to coordinate day-to-day freight, shipping and transport operations. The role requires accurate recording of production, inspection and test data and preparation of shipping and export documentation.

You'll liaise with freight providers, manage budget, maintain records in ERP systems, and support continuous improvements while ensuring ITAR compliance. Working hours Mon-Thu 8am-4:15pm, Fri 8am-3:15pm.

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of the overall product process.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong IT skills to include Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience of ERP systems.
  • Ability to understand and work to budgetary constraints.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence to liaise effectively with external agencies, freight providers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience of quality auditing is desirable
  • Previous export compliance experience desirable
  • Ability to use initiatives and respond effectively to changes, issues or deviations from planned activities.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, check and control all shipping and export documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant export control and customs requirements.
  • Support weekend working at month end and undertake overtime requirement to support operational requirements.
  • Preparation of Metallographic samples following successful completion of training.
  • Liaise with shipping and transport providers to co-ordinate movement of products by road, rail, sea and air.
  • Organise miscellaneous transport services to support operational and business requirements.
  • Work closely with shipping companies to maximise container and vehicle capacity while managing costs.
  • Maintain accurate finished product records using ERP systems.
  • Maintain records that are accurate, up to date, secure and readily retrievable.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate activities with sub-contractors and intra-company process personnel.
  • Participate in customer inspection and documentation reviews.
  • Monitor expenditure against shipping budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Represent the shipping team at production and planning meetings.

Overall Responsibilities of the Position
