Job summary

Briggs Equipment in Haydock/Cannock is seeking a proactive Logistics Controller for a permanent 40-hour week. You will ensure equipment is received, stored and dispatched safely, maintaining accurate records and supporting workshop operations.

The role requires experience with Excel and stock control systems, forklift operation, and a strong emphasis on health and safety. You will work independently or as part of a team, with training and opportunities for progression offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and stock control or logistics management systems.
  • Experience loading/unloading vehicles using a forklift or similar equipment.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and support wider operational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe loading/unloading environment in line with procedures and safety standards.
  • Carry out safe loading/unloading of equipment and vehicles using appropriate methods/equipment.
  • Complete inspections and condition checks on all equipment received on site.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment movements, receipts and dispatches.
  • Support workshop operations through stock-picking and parts supply activities.
  • Identify and report shipment discrepancies and escalate issues as required.
  • Maintain stock locations and inventory systems for efficient stock control.
  • Support equipment stock audits and inventory checks.
  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections to ensure customer specs and quality standards.
  • Complete allocated tasks efficiently to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
  • Carry out battery charging/maintenance on electric equipment to ensure readiness.
  • Provide support for out-of-hours call-outs when required.

We're looking for a proactive and safety-conscious Logistics Controller to join our team in Cannock. This is a hands-on role that plays a vital part in supporting our logistics and workshop operations, ensuring equipment is received, stored and dispatched efficiently while maintaining the highest safety standards.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Maintain a safe loading and unloading environment, ensuring all activities are completed in line with company procedures and health and safety standards.
  • Carry out the safe loading and unloading of equipment and vehicles using appropriate methods and equipment.
  • Complete equipment inspections and condition checks on all machines received on site.

What Will Help You Excel in This Role
  • Experience using computer systems, including Microsoft Excel and stock control or logistics management systems.
  • Previous experience loading and unloading vehicles using a Fork Lift Truck (FLT) or similar equipment.
  • A strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and support wider operational activities.
